What is the benfit of salting the password?

Salting the password will make more difficult to find the hashed code in public databases of hash codes.

Is you hash the password "123", the hash code can probably be found online. If you add a salt to the password (your birth date, your domain name etc.), you are sure that the hashed code cannot be found anywhere online.
