- New 64 bit Protection Engine
The Protector’s Protection Engine takes care of watching against intrusions (IPS), spyware/malware, and filters network traffic that don’t comply with the Customer’s policy (Content Filter). In addition to that, it forwards the authorized traffic to the LAN behind the Protector, if installed in bridge mode. In Firmware 38.0 and for the new 64 bit Protector units, the Protection Engine has been improved, through a more efficient traffic filter, a new event logger and a new customization interface. The IPS part of the Protection Engine can be configured through menu IPS-Spyware > IPS Setup. Here you will find a list of the available protocols that can be enabled or disabled. Each of these protocols represents a set of filter rules designed to block a specific traffic type. When you enable a Protocol, the whole set of rules contained in it will be enabled or disabled. To enable or disable a specific Protocol rule, click on Configure, and in the page that appears, choose those rules that should be enabled/disabled.The same applies to the Anti-Spyware filter and to the Content Filter. The Content Filter is especially designed foe blocking Games, P2P, Chat programs, and all those protocols that are usually against the common Security and Internet usage policies in most Companies. To view the statistics, go to menu Stats & Logs > IPS Logs > Advanced Statistics. Here you can view alerts by type, by date, by IP, watch summarized or analytic information and more.
